Census likely to begin early next year, Silence on caste census!

: Census may start in the country from next year. According to media reports, this census will start from 2025 and will continue till 2026. Religion and class will be taken into account in this census. The decision on caste census has not been taken yet. After this, the delimitation of Lok Sabha seats will take place. The delimitation process can be completed by 2028.


The last census in India was recorded in 2011. Its next phase was to start in 2021, but it got delayed due to the second wave of Kovid-19. Since then, many questions are being asked about the census that when will the next census data be published. According to sources, the next census data will be available in 2026. According to media reports, the process of recording census data will start in 2025 and the report will be published in 2026.


According to media reports, now the cycle of census will also change. The census which is conducted every 10 years will now be held in 2035. Till now, the census, which is conducted every 10 years, was conducted at the beginning of the decade. Sources said that the delimitation of Lok Sabha seats will start after the completion of the census. The delimitation process is expected to be completed by 2028. Meanwhile, the government has not yet decided on the caste census, which is being demanded by many opposition parties. Sources said that religion and class are taken into account in the census, but this time people may also be asked which sect they believe in.


The census of India is recorded every decade, the first census was conducted in 1872. The first census after independence was recorded in 1951 and the last census in 2011. Census data is extremely important for the Government of India for policy making and implementation and to ensure equitable distribution of resources in the country. The census sheds light on many aspects including population, demography, economic condition etc. According to 2011 data, the population of India is 121.1 crore, of which 52 percent are men and 48 percent are women.
