Fox News co-host Pete Hegseth will be the new US Defense Secretary, Trump announced


Donald Trump on Tuesday appointed Fox News co-host, author and former US military officer Pete Hegseth as the Defense Secretary in his administration. 44-year-old Pete Hegseth has previously led infantry in the National Guard. As a military officer, he has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been awarded two Bronze Star medals.


Announcing his name, Trump said, "Under Pete's leadership, America's enemies should be alert, our army will be great again and America will never retreat." Pete Hegseth joined Fox News as a contributor since 2014 and now co-hosts Fox and Friends Weekend and also works as an anchor for Fox Nation. He has also written several books. Hegseth is an Ivy Leaguer who has graduated from both Princeton and Harvard. He lives in the southern US state of Tennessee with his wife and seven children.

Even before taking the oath, Trump has made it clear that he will use the policy of 'peace through strength' for the next four years. While appointing Pitt Hegseth, Trump said that he always fights for the soldiers. By appointing a former soldier as Defense Secretary, Trump wants to send a message to America's enemies that he is different from Biden and is a strong president.


Trump has chosen former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as Israel's ambassador, Mike Huckabee is a staunch supporter of Israel, before this he has appointed Alice Stefanik as America's envoy to the UN. Alice is also a staunch supporter of Israel and anti-Iran.


Apart from this, Trump has appointed Mike Waltz as his National Security Advisor, Mike is a staunch opponent of China and a supporter of India. Mike has also previously served in the White House and the Pentagon. This decision is considered a big step towards strengthening the security policy of the Trump administration.
