Sixteen journalists honoured 9th BRAC Migration Media Awards-2024 in Dhaka
Bangladesh: Sixteen journalists were honoured at the 9th BRAC Migration Media Awards for investigative journalism on migration. The awards were presented by Mahfuz Anam, Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star, EU Ambassador Michael Miller and BARC Executive Director Asif Saleh at an awards ceremony held at The Daily Star Centre in Dhaka on 15 December.
This year, first place in the Newspaper (National) category was jointly won by Kamrun Nahar and Masum Billah of The Business Standard. Saiful Masum of Azkar Patrika came in second and Hasanuzzaman of Dainik Inqilab came in third. In the Local Newspaper category, Shariful Islam of Ekushey Patrika came in first, Iftekhairul Islam of Dainik Chittagong Khabar came in second and Mohammad Shahin Alam of Shaptahik Chaudagram came in third.
In the Television News category, Kefayatullah Chowdhury Shakil of Banglavision won first place, with Mohammad Rajibul Islam on camera. Rashiduzzaman of Channel 24 came second, with SI Suman on camera and Tanvir Hasan of RTV came third, with Md Zakir Hossain Rana of Channel 24 as camera person. Nazmul Saeed of Independent Television and Kazi Mohammad Ismail, camera person, won the award in the television programme category. Badsha Miah of Radio Tehran won the award in the radio category.

The first prize in the online newspaper category was won by Jahangir Alam of Jago News 24. The second prize was won by Ajoy Kundu of Prothom Alo and the third prize was jointly won by Shakila Akhtar Bobby of Khaborer Kagoj and Saddif Sohrab Ovi of Bangla Tribune.
The winners were given a crest, a certificate and a cheque for the prize money. The BRAC Migration Media Awards were introduced in 2015 to recognise journalistic contributions to the migration sector.
