After Manoj Bajpayee's 'Dispatch', Another Indian Film with a Journalist in the Lead is Coming Next Month

‘Anamadheya Ashok Kumar’ is set to release in theatres on February 7.

After the success of Manoj Bajpayee's film "Dispatch" in which he played a journalist in the lead role, another film with a journalist in the lead role is coming to the screen. The title of this film is 'Anaamdheya Ashok Kumar', the teaser of which was released recently. The word 'Anamadheya' means 'anonymous'. The title has the tagline, 'Justice is a matter of perspective'.
In this Kannada film, actor Kishore is playing the role of a journalist who is suspected of murder.

According to the storyline given on IMDB, Praveen Rajasekhar, an investigative journalist, arrives to interview a retired senior lawyer at his house when he hears a noise from upstairs. Alarmed, he rushes to investigate and is attacked by an intruder. In self-defense, he stabs the attacker with a knife and calls the police, but the very next moment he finds himself in a strange predicament as he is the prime suspect. Is he the culprit, the witness or the victim?

The teaser of the film 'Anamadheya Ashok Kumar' was recently released on YouTube. It stars Harshil Kaushik as a police officer who attempts to find out whether journalist Praveen Rajasekhar is a victim, witness or a criminal?

Discussing the storyline of the film, director Sagar Kumar says, “The roles we play in society shape our ideologies. “The police and journalists are supposed to work together, but when they encounter each other, their egos clash. We have attempted to portray this clash in the film.” The film brings together two such ideologies.

“As a person working for the government, a police officer's approach to life is very different from that of a journalist. A journalist's job is to question the government, so his opinion about the system will be different,” says director Sagar Kumar.

The plot of his film is inspired by a real-life story. He once read a news story about a family in which the person who filed a complaint against the criminals becomes the victim. In the news, the unidentified bodies or criminals were named 'Ashok Kumar' - the Indian equivalent of 'John Doe'. 'Anamdheya Ashok Kumar' is releasing in theatres on February 7, 2025.
